Hedonistic

Commercials are a telling part of society.  They are directed a segments of people.  Oh, the purpose is to get people to buy things, support something or create an awareness, sometimes just support of a media.  The messages reflect a part of the group we live in.  So when I puzzled by advertising I have to ponder, what are they trying to say.

Lately there have been a bunch of computer type commercials that just did not register with me.  First thing that came to mind was the generation gap.  Yup, I’m an old fuddy duddy….. hehe.  One of the common threads in them was the goal of deriving pleasure if one used their product.  Then I seen that in some other messages.  Indulgent pleasure was the message.  No work was implied, just use the stuff and be happy.  Self indulgent pleasure was such a common theme in so many other commercials.

It made me stop and wonder, what kind of new generation is issuing forth.  So many youngsters I interact with any more, ages mid 20’s to young teenagers.  Seem to be bent on pleasure only and the adults are there to provide this for them.  Its like the concept of putting something out to gain this is foreign to them.  I have seen some children treat their parents like servants.

Then I see commercials pandering to the self indulgent.  Man is a pleasure seeking being but there has to be some work in there someplace to create these machines.  It sometimes comes across that people don’t grasp that somebody has to create these machines and it takes some kind of work to acquire the money to purchase them.

The entrepreneur that works and markets to these people will create a type of slavery.  These companies will have a great control over others.  They probably will become quite wealthy also.

Leisure time for some has become more important then work time but they expect to be compensated the same as those who work.  There have been leisure seeking people for eons, but most of them also were hard workers.

So I wonder where these people will find the money to sate their hedonism?

Ah, the pleasures of my life, sit and count snow flakes.

Your indulgence is…………. ?

The Yellow Flowers n Colors of Autumn

Autumn brings the cool changes of fall.  No longer is there the searing heat of summer.  Nature is getting ready for a nap.  The  beauty that is covered by the green ushers forth, the last blooms unfurl, soon to be replaced by naked browns.

Meadows change to a carpet of yellow accented by green, outlined by the towering trees of green going to yellow.

Country roads travel through bent boughs, arched tunnels of green n yellow.

Autumn is a season of calm.  Soon the snows will fly over the fields bring moisture and nourishment for next years crop.

In the glistening light, colors hurry, pausing but a moment to be captured in memory.  Sun slants to a lower angle each day. A season at the end.

Mixed in with nature can be found the hand of man.  Acres and acres od sunflowers bow their heads in prayer.  Soon the harvester will roll forth, thrashing the plants.

May You have a blessed weekend.

The creepy mania of politics

Another blogger directed me top another blogger in Wisconsin.   She is a law professor at the university in Madison, the state capital.  She has written about the protests and the associated antics of the left wing losers.  Very little about the right wing for they do not protest that much.  She has been pretty neutral and presented things fairly objective.

IMGP3646 (640x425)

One of the incidents after the democrats lost the election there was the alleged incident of one supreme court justice trying to choke another court justice.  Apparently the incident did not happen.  It was a case of one trying to protect themselves and the other distorting the truth to gain control of such.

Yet this incident has become a microcosm of the left wing progressive distortion and being sore losers.  Watching the taunts the protestors hurled at the right wing winners was sad.  Yet they, like the supreme court justice made false accusations to try and control the situation in which they lost.

So my question is….. are Democrats becoming liars, half truths, innuendo and distortions to further their agenda.  Where has the Democrat gone that used to be above board and accepted defeat and went on to the next battle.  Puffery is fairly common in politics but where has it descended to in the Democratic party.  Why have they became such sore losers, why do they want control so much.  Why are they not accepting of ideas different from theirs.  What happened to the Democratic party I used to vote for.

In this incident a whole can of worms is now crawling around.  Are the conservative Democrats going to continue to let the progressive Democrats control what used to be a noble political party.

Well… so much for my soap box and two cents worth.

Have a good week.

Summer Poesies

Every Summer I put out petunias and other flowers in planters.  They get fed, watered and pruned through out the summer.  This year they grew out of the planters.  I put some moss roses in with them and they almost took over.  In among the roses are the petunias.  This year has been one of my best for flowers in the planters.

Nature’s Way

Scrambling through ditches and pastures I stumble across things that fit or how’d that get there.

The wind gathers the seeds up and deposits them in among the grasses n weeds.  Jewels to sparkle in the green surrounds.  The beds of flowers and planters spread their bounty on the wind, finding  new places to set roots down.

Tromping among the stickers and thorns these damsels thrive, making a beauty.  Pausing for a moment, enjoy the reward, saying thanks to the ways of nature.

Along with the beauty are the ravenous monsters.  They eat each other and devour fields.  They can become so thick that the ground moves, sun light fades when they fly in hoards. The grasshopper is related to the locust and like the locust, grasshoppers can strip plants into the ground.

It is amazing anything lives after these little monsters have passed by.  There is a plan for destruction, nature renews itself, even in spite of man’s attempts to the contrary.  One of the reasons I question the greenies cry of wolf on the global warming issue.

Nature has a balance and will make changes to keep that balance… In spite of the human meddling.  We can help… but destroy………..
