The creepy mania of politics

Another blogger directed me top another blogger in Wisconsin.   She is a law professor at the university in Madison, the state capital.  She has written about the protests and the associated antics of the left wing losers.  Very little about the right wing for they do not protest that much.  She has been pretty neutral and presented things fairly objective.

One of the incidents after the democrats lost the election there was the alleged incident of one supreme court justice trying to choke another court justice.  Apparently the incident did not happen.  It was a case of one trying to protect themselves and the other distorting the truth to gain control of such.

Yet this incident has become a microcosm of the left wing progressive distortion and being sore losers.  Watching the taunts the protestors hurled at the right wing winners was sad.  Yet they, like the supreme court justice made false accusations to try and control the situation in which they lost.

So my question is….. are Democrats becoming liars, half truths, innuendo and distortions to further their agenda.  Where has the Democrat gone that used to be above board and accepted defeat and went on to the next battle.  Puffery is fairly common in politics but where has it descended to in the Democratic party.  Why have they became such sore losers, why do they want control so much.  Why are they not accepting of ideas different from theirs.  What happened to the Democratic party I used to vote for.

In this incident a whole can of worms is now crawling around.  Are the conservative Democrats going to continue to let the progressive Democrats control what used to be a noble political party.

Well… so much for my soap box and two cents worth.

Have a good week.

Lawn Mowers

The lot next door to me is vacant and used for storing old stuff and junk.  It doesn’t get mowed so I worked out a deal with the owner to find someone with some grazing animals to put in there to keep the grass and weeds down.  Couple of ladies down the road have a collection, donkey, goats. bovines, ponies and other critters.

I wanted the goats because they eat the nasty weeds also and go right down to the nub but the fence was not good enough to keep them, in.  They went over it, through it like there was no fence there.  So that didn’t work.

They had some ponies and brought them up to munch on the grass.  They did a good job of clipping the grass down and ate a few of the weeds.  So this year they are back, chomping on the grass.  One short though, it got hurt sop it is still at its pasture healing a shoulder bruise/gash.

Mom and daughter have been doing a pretty good job of roaming the lots munching on the tender shoots.  I talk to them and they talk back.  Mostly I watch them and keep water in their water tank.

I like it because it reduces a fire danger next door.  It is also nice to see something beside the cat roaming there or listening to the dogs howl n bark.

Deer used to camp there but I believe with the horses in there they have moved on.  Plus the dogs get obnoxious at times also.

One nice thing, these mowers need very little maintaince and leave some fertilizer behind.

Not By Design

There are things in life that happen by planning and then there are things that occur by chance.  Working by design takes lots of effort and planning, it is also very rewarding.  Those that happen by chance are a deep pleasure, make a warm fuzzy feely moment.

I enjoy photography and in particular railroad photography.  While back I was setting up to take some train pictures and I disturbed a four legged critter’s sleep.

I was walking along an overpass to catch the train [passing below and up from under the bridge popped this youngster.  I was startled but gathered myself together to get the camera up for some pictures.  He paused and stared back at me.

This went on for sometime.  One step forward, click of the shutter, pause and look back. The train was setting back in town still not moving so I just sat there and watched him.

He is a youngster, not big enough to challenge the old bucks for the herd domain.  By himself he roams the grassland.  Sometimes these young bucks travel together but until they get some does they are loners..

White tails are not common around here, we get mostly mulies.  Mule deer are native to the area.  Like the white tail, the mulies are being forced to find new land to roam.  Deer were far and few far between on the plains but that is changing as development forces them out of their homes...

Eventually he moved on down the hill to open field.  He will find a small harem, become feed for a predator or possibly a trophy for the great white hunter.  In the meantime I appreciated the moment of encounter.

Oh and the train… it went into reverse and I gave up waiting for it..

A Time Inside Self

Fall, a time of renewal, shed the old and get ready for the new. The prairie goes to sleep like other parts of nature does for the winter. We have been so dry here lately that the grass went dormant last month. The only green is along the cricks. Like a green ribbon the cottonwoods wave above the blueish, gray brown grass. As the grasses go dormant they begin to shed their seeds to get ready for moisture of spring. It also provides food for the critters that hang out in the wintertime, seeds for the birds n gophers and grass for the browsers. Nature has developed a nice system to sustain life on a land that most see as vacant.
Look out across the picture and see a land that supports hundreds of bird species, a large variety of mammals and thousands of insects. There are ranch homes in the trees, a small town next to the trees on the left and in the far corner is another small town, about 15 miles away. There is a white building in the upper left hand corner and it sets almost a thousand feet higher then where I am standing.
Here one can feel a freedom that is missed in the hustle of the big city. Open land to the eyes end. A gaze to the horizon without interruption. the big city has freedom but as I look out over the skyline I see house after house surrounding large buildings and structures.
With the birds my mind can soar, beside the antelope I can roam or I can just sit and watch nature's creation.

Walking in the sand creek the dogs have a good time sniffing things out as they flit all over the place. This day the sun was out and they were a little warm. Tongues hanging out and the Scooter looks like he is trying to get some shade from the blade of grass. It is so nice to get out like this and let them be. They don't run off and if a rabbit jumps up they will let it go if I holler at them. If a deer jumps up they stand there and look at it. So down the crick we go strolling.

There comes a time to pack up the dogs and head out the front door. Sunday was that day. There were a few things east of town I wanted to check on, so off into the wilderness.
One of the things I like to do is take pictures of trees, especially this time of year through winter. The patterns of the branches on the sky created an ethereal appearance at times. Out where I was going the road crosses the sand creek and i can walk up stream a couple hundred yards. Each time I do there something just a bit different. Nature's canvas is ever changing and always great. My pictures do not always capture that.

Hope your week is progressing and life is treating you well.
